Angelfish
There are three dives within the site known as Angelfish.
Angelfish North and Angelfish Coral Garden are both started by entering through a small break in the reef table and descending into the shallow coral garden area. In these shallows, we often encounter mating Robust Ghost Pipefish and Pegasus. The northern dive takes us to a beautiful cleaning station on 29 meters, which is pulsing with marine life including Glass Fish. Yellow mouth Moray’s are found in large numbers, but the main attraction is the sheer number of cleaner shrimp living here. Periodically we are lucky enough to find a pair of mating Ornate Ghost Pipefish hiding in the cleaning station, making the dive even more spectacular. Angelfish Coral Garden is a slow, exploratory dive searching for the numerous Morays, giant Scorpion Fish and various Nudibranches who live here. You can often find Spanish Dancers moving through the sand here, or Eagle Rays swimming past us in the blue. Another highlight here are the huge Table Corals, many of which have become so old that they are covered in a large variety of different soft corals and sponges. In Angelfish South we enter after a short walk across the beach, and descend in another break in the reef table. After a swim through the shallow coral garden, where we can find Moray Eels and Nudibranches, we come to the steep drop off that descends to over 60m. As we turn to return, we come to a canyon which we follow to the shallower coral garden, and to the exit point. Special features: Canyon, cleaning station, Ghost Pipefish, Blue Anemone, Spanish Dancers, Eagle Rays. |
Rock Sea Area
The Valley is located next to a small camp. After a swim over the sloping coral garden, searching for Moray Eels and Nudibranches, we enter the Valley, a long and beautiful sandy area between two tall reef walls. There are hundreds of reef fish moving along the reef and many hiding places for octopus and shrimp. The floor of the Valley drops below 50 meters, so we swim along one or other reef walls, before ascending to the top of the wall to return through the coral garden and to the exit point. As there are a number of ways to move through the Valley, we can make two or three dives on this site.
Special features: Interesting landscape, cleaning stations, pristine corals. Current: Rare. Suitable for: Open Water diver and up. Technical dive site: Yes. |
Outside Rock Sea
This dive is accessed by a short rocky entrance, we begin the dive by descending over the sand 3-4m. Then descending along the sandy slope, past a beautiful pinnacle, where we can find glass fish and a rare green Anemone. We make two dives here, one over each reef, where both sides allow depths of over 40 meters for those qualified. There are beautiful crevasses and cracks in the reef walls, here we can find Shrimp, Octopus, Moray Eels and on occasion Lobster. There are also large numbers of reef fish and schools of hunting fish. It is not unusual to see a Hawksbill Turtle in this area, who often comes close to the divers to say hello.
Special features: Green Anemone, interesting landscape, Turtles. Current: Rare. Suitable for: Open Water diver and above. Technical dive site: Yes. |

There are many Nudibranches to be found here, as well as Sea Horses in the shallow Sea Grass areas. The coral garden turns into a drop off on 18m, descending down to 45m, before a second sandy slope and drop off leads to depths of over 100m. Dives can be made to the north and south along the coral garden and drop off, enabling us to make 2 beautiful dives here. This area is a technical dive special, with a stunning canyon suitable for Trimix diving, and spectacular scenery at depth.

On both sides there is the option to make shallow dives on the sloping coral gardens, or deeper dives to 35m along the reef wall drop offs, where Moray Eels, Octopus and various Nudibranches can all be found. Whilst both dives have similar landscapes, on the northern side is a beautiful small canyon on 27m to swim through, followed by a large Red Antler Coral housing Nudibranches, whilst Al Ma’agana to the South is where we can find the large Red Anemone on 27m.

The Labyrinth
The Labyrinth dive site is named after the series of entwining reef walls which require careful navigation to ensure you do not end up faced with a dead end. You start the dive after a short walk over sand and small rocks, in a shallow area of sea grass, dotted with small pinnacles and coral blocks. We slowly swim into the labyrinth, where the reef walls extend up to the surface of the water, until we reach the entrance to the coral garden. In the Coral garden, we can find large Frog Fish, schools of Barracuda, Snapper and large clouds of reef fish. The coral garden becomes a drop off down to depths greater than 50 meters, offering the chance to see larger pelagic hunters in the deep waters. Once we are finished searching the coral garden, we make our way back through the Labyrinth to the exit point.
Special features: Drop off, Frog Fish, interesting landscape. Current: Rare. Suitable for: Open Water diver and up, with good air consumption. Technical dive site: No. |

The Swisscare
The Swisscare House reef has two different diving areas, both of which have an easy entry through a natural break in the reef table. The dive sites are a shallow reef table with a maximum depth of 7m, with a sandy slope leading slowly deeper and out to an area of Sea Grass. In this sandy area, we can find the very rare Mimic Octopus, as well as the more common Reef Octopus and Cuttlefish. To the north is the shallower of the dives, with a maximum depth of 8m, whilst the southern dive has a maximum of 14m. There is the chance to spot Giant Frog Fish here, in amongst the huge variety different reef fishes and Moray Eels. The most spectacular aspect of this shallow dive is the variety of large and totally pristine hard and soft corals and an especially big population of Nudibranches. Even the famous Spanish Dancer is often seen here and we quite regularly dive alongside big Turtles which travel between the MFO and Swisscare. As the dives are shallow, the light is excellent for photography allowing photographers extra time for their pictures.
Divers have recently discovered a very special guest - a pair of Mimic Octopus, living in tunnels under the sandy bottom, with multiple openings in the nearby sea grass! Special features: Mimic Octopus, pristine corals, Moray Eels, Frog Fish, large variety of Nudibranches. Current: Rare. Suitable for: Discover Scuba Diver and up. Technical dive site: No. |
Sha'ab ElariaThis stunning reef is entered through a break in the reef table next to the Elaria Hotel beach. There are many Moray Eels, Scorpion Fish and Nudibranches to be found here and occasionally Robust Ghost Pipefish are found by the reef wall. The corals here are colourful and varied, with plenty to see. Often, we find Leopard and Marble Rays resting down in the sand, whilst a small Hawksbill Turtle who lives on this reef will often come over to say hello.

MFO Pipeline Coral Garden
Adjacent to the Pipelines is a beautiful coral garden with a maximum depth of 23 meters. We often see many kinds of Nudibranches and Moray Eels as we move through the coral garden. The deeper edge has large Table Corals offering shelter to large schools of fish. In the winter, this dive site is the best place to spot Ray’s, especially the Feathertail Ray, and there is often a School of Giant Barracuda milling around here too. This dive site is also the area where the Green Turtles collect to mate at the end of the summer. In the centre of the coral garden lays one of the most beautiful pinnacles in Nuweiba. This pinnacle is located on 17-19 meters, and is the home to large schools of Glass Fish as well as other reef fish. Many fish collect in the crack which runs through the middle of the pinnacle, here Lion fish gather in large numbers to hunt them. The area around the pinnacle is often home to Scorpion Fish, Stone Fish and Frog Fish, the whole dive offers a large variety of things to see. Special features: Frogfish, Turtles, Rays, diving for all levels of experience. Current: occasional, rarely strong. Suitable for: Discover Scuba Diver and up. Technical dive site: No. |
MFO Pipeline is a wonderful and unique dive site. The Pipelines are two large desalination pipes that have not been used for over 30 years; on the left side is a short pipe, with a maximum depth of 12m, and on the right a longer pipe with a maximum depth of 22m. Untouched underwater, they have become home to a large number of different fish species, and covered in a huge variety of hard and soft corals. On the pipes there are always a large number of camouflaged Scorpion Fish and when you are lucky, Frog Fish can also be found. The ends of the pipes are home to schools of Antheas and Fairy Basslets, whilst Bat Fish hide in the soft corals under the pipes. As the pipes also act as a large cleaning station, it is often possible to see large Jack Fish and Snappers being carefully cleaned by Shrimps and cleaner Wrasse. Octopuses are also often seen here and when you look carefully into the sand, you can find Torpedo Rays resting.
This dive has so many things to offer that we make one dive just to explore the pipes and their inhabitants. Special features: Unique dive site, manmade structure, abundance of marine life. Current: occasional. Suitable for: Junior Scuba Diver and up. Technical dive site: No. |
MFO The Sinkers
On the back of House Reef, you have the chance to dive the Sinkers, a stunning mooring buoy suspended from 8 to 12 meters under the surface of the water. During the Israeli occupation of the Sinai in the 1970’s, this huge buoy was accidentally placed in water 10 meters deeper than the 25 meter long mooring chains. In the years since, this buoy has become a centre for a huge variety of different marine life. We slowly circle the chains on the buoy, where there is an abundance of soft corals and Shrimps, ascending into the clouds of Glass Fish, Damsels and Fusiliers circling the buoy itself. On the top of the buoy there is a cleaning station, where Moray Eels can often be found being cleaned by large Banded Cleaner Shrimp. Out in the blue, around the buoy, you can see large Jackfish, Snappers and occasionally Barracuda hunting. Special features: Unique dive site, manmade object, abundance of soft corals. Current: likely, rarely strong. Suitable for: Advanced Open Water diver and up. Technical dive site: No. |

Baby Freckled Frogfish can be found here, well hidden in holes, if you look carefully enough. On the return to the exit, you may find Sea Horses, Hairy Pygmy Pipehorses and Ghost Pipefish in the shallow Sea Grass. Myserique
One of our newest additions. These two dive sites are some of the newest additions to the Nuweiba dive site map. Therefore, there are no maps yet. Ray’s Place begins by snorkeling over a rocky entry and descending onto a sandy slope that begins at 2 meters. The whole slope from 5 meters down is covered in Sea Grass, with all coral pinnacles and large Table Corals growing up out of the grass. In this area, you can find different Nudibranches and Robust Ghost Pipefish nestling amongst the Sea grass. This area has many Blue Spotted Rays and you can often find them sitting proudly out on the grass rather than tucked under a ledge. The whole site has a magical feel owed to the setting of the coral within Sea Grass rather than in the sand. Farrah Shore is entered by snorkeling over the rocks and descending onto the shallow coral garden. This area has a large collection of huge Table Corals, and drops swiftly down into craters and valley’s of over 40 meters in depth. If you travel further from the entry point, the coral garden descends into a steep slope, with pristine corals, schools of large Surgeon Fish and Glass Fish tucked in between the coral blocks. This area descends to over 80 meters. Special features: Unique landscapes, Blue Spotted Rays, Ghost Pipefish. 'Farrah Shore' is also the shore entry to the area that is currently being explored by the Nuweiba Tech Team, in order to locate the wreckage of the ferry boat 'Farrah II' that sunk in the area in 1985. As this is still an ongoing project, and depths are beyond the limits of recreational diving, there is unfortunately no map. Special features: Unique landscapes, Blue Spotted Rays, Stingrays, Feather Tail Rays Current: Rare. Suitable for: Advanced Open Water diver and up. Technical dive site: Yes. |
Myserique North
